Designed in the style of a traditional Chinese garden, the garden also features numerous stalls selling everything you need to take care of birds—including the birds themselves.
The Basics
Located between Boundary Street to the north and Flower Market Road to the south, Yuen Po Street Bird Garden covers about 32,292 square feet (3,000 square meters), and includes landscaped and sitting areas where local bird owners like to bring their birds. In the same area are more than 70 stalls selling different varieties of bird (including prized songbirds), ornate cages, bird food (including live feed), accessories, and supplies.
Many visitors combine a visit to Yuen Po Street Bird Market with a stop at the Flower Market nearby. Walking tours focused on the area’s many markets also include the Goldfish Market, Ladies Market, the Temple Street Night Market, or a combination of several.

How to Get There
Yuen Po Street Bird Garden is located in Kowloon. By public transportation, take the MTR to Prince Edward Station (Exit B1) and walk along Prince Edward Road West for about 15 minutes. A number of buses also stop nearby, including bus numbers 1, 2C, 3C, 6D, 24, 27, 42, 87D, 95, 104, 113, 203, and 281A.
When to Get There
The bird garden is open from 7am to 8pm daily. Many of the stalls selling birds and related supplies close by 6pm. Weekends and public holidays are popular times to visit the garden.
Walking the Birds
In Hong Kong, bird owners rarely take their birds out of the cages, but will instead “walk” their birds by strolling and swinging the cages gently. The cages are then set in a convenient location for the birds to get fresh air and sunshine while their owners socialize. Yuen Po Street Bird Garden is a popular destination for bird owners to walk their birds.
