Campground Overview

Introduction

Governors Landing Campground is open year-round and rarely fills up, except possibly on holiday weekends. It is suitable for tents and RVs up to 28 feet in length. Governors Landing is the only campground in the park with potable water available, though there are no hookups. This campground has access to some of the most popular swimming areas in the park. Picnicking at vacant sites in Governors Landing Campground is allowed 7am to 3pm. Occupying sites outside these times requires payment of camping fees.

The climate at Amistad is semi-arid in moisture and subtropical in temperature. Humidity is more often high than low, with periodic morning fog. Summers are long, hot, and frequently humid; winters are mild and vary between sunny, warm, cloudy, and cool weather. Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis; there are no reservations. Fee is payable within 30 minutes of occupying a campsite. This can be paid at a centrally located self-pay fee station, which accepts credit or debit cards only. Checkout time is 11am.

Gills are available at each campsite. Ground fires are not permitted.

Regulations Overview

Site capacity is not to exceed eight persons and one recreational vehicle camping unit (three vehicles total). Vehicles must be parked in designated parking areas only and may not be driven off-road. Visitors can stay in a campground up to 14 consecutive nights with a limit of 60 nights in the park in a calendar year. Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am. Check out time is 11am. Ground fires are prohibited.

Additional Information

It is the closest campground to the Diablo East RV dump station. The dump station also has potable water and is available only to those camping within Amistad National Recreation Area campgrounds. There may be a camp host on duty in the winter.
