Cathédrale St-Pierre
The vast and austere Cathédrale St-Pierre has been a Protestant church since 1536. It was built in the 12th and 13th centuries,
and its current neoclassic facade was added in the 18th century. This is where John Calvin preached; his seat is still in
the north aisle. Climb the 157 steps up the tower for fine views over Geneva and the lake. The cathedral has a long-standing
musical tradition; the Clémence, the largest bell in the tower, weighs over 6 tons and was placed there in 1407. The carillon
changes monthly, and there are organ recitals at 6 p.m. on Saturdays from June through September.
