Originally settled by Pennsylvania Quakers in 1805, Uxbridge has an abundance of sites honoring its heritage. The Uxbridge Quaker Meeting House, constructed in 1820 on the site of an earlier meeting house, is at 6800 Concession Rd. The Thomas Foster Memorial, a Byzantine-design mortuary chapel with a copper dome roof, bronze doors and stained glass–windows, was built in 1936 by former Toronto mayor Thomas Foster.
