Xenia (ZEEN-yuh), once the site of the Shawnee Nation's largest settlement, was the 1768 birthplace of Tecumseh. In the 1790s and early 1800s, Tecumseh tried to create a pan-Native American alliance to protect tribal lands and culture from the encroaching frontiersmen.
