Bluff lies in the shadow of the Navajo Twins, two massive sandstone turrets towering over the valley of the San Juan River. Nearby ruins include the Pioneer Cemetery, off US 191 following signs, and the 14-Window Ruin, on a marked trail in the Navajo reservation.
St. Christopher's Mission, a small chapel on SR 162, affords a spectacular view of the surrounding red rock cliffs. Bluff is at the northern end of scenic US 191, which runs southwest through Mexican Hat and continues as US 163 into Arizona.
