DescriptionAt its peak, the railway system linking Prince Edward Island to the mainland included 121 stations along 400 kilometres (250 mi.) of track. The circuitous route connected almost every village on the island, ending at the Elmira station. Today, the depot marks the eastern terminus of the Confederation Trail, a 280-kilometre-long (174-mile) biking, hiking and snowmobile path that roughly parallels Hwy. 2 and covers the island from tip to tip.
