DescriptionFulton, named for steamboat inventor Robert Fulton, also was the birthplace of musician, poet, novelist and reviewer Henry Bellamann, who published three books of poetry and seven novels over more than 2 decades. Bellamann's best-known novel was “Kings Row”; the 1942 film adaptation of life in a small Midwestern town at the turn of the 20th century starred Ann Sheridan and Ronald Reagan. It was filmed on location, and downtown Fulton's brick-paved streets and historic architecture have been carefully preserved in the years since.
