DescriptionNestled in the “Valley of a Thousand Peaks” between the Rocky and Purcell mountain ranges, Invermere's bucolic location on Lake Windermere's north shore makes it the ideal spot for summer recreation, including hiking, camping, fishing, boating and sailboarding. Hang gliders frequently take flight off nearby Mount Swansea.
Birds of a different feather fly freely at Wilmer National Wildlife Area, about 5 kilometres (3 mi.) north of town; bring your binoculars to peep at songbirds, woodpeckers, waterfowl and birds of prey as well as four-legged creatures including deer, elk, muskrats and beavers.
Roam down Main Street in Invermere's downtown, where flowers bloom in abundance and small-town charm pervades the boutiques, antique shops and cafés. Take in a first-run flick at the 1952 Toby Theatre.
