DescriptionKent was incorporated in 1739 after lots were sold at public auction in Windham. Known as a center for winter sports and hiking, the town also is home to a large art colony. The Housatonic River has cut a gorge through the limestone, and geologists find excellent specimens of marble and schist in the area. Bull's Bridge, built circa 1842, spans the river. It is one of two covered bridges in the state that accommodates automobile traffic.
