Logan, named after a chief of the Cayuga tribe, is the burial site of “Devil Anse” Hatfield; the family leader in the infamous feud with the McCoys lies south of Logan on SR 44 at Sarah Ann. A life-size statue imported from Italy marks his grave. The grave site is on private property.
An outdoor amphitheater at Chief Logan State Park presents “The Aracoma Story,” a play based on a local Native American legend, and other dramas. In addition to recreational offerings such as a swimming pool, hiking trails and horseback riding, the park also has a wildlife exhibit with animals native to West Virginia and a museum with artwork and historical artifacts; phone (304) 792-7125.
