DescriptionA fishing community at the confluence of the Matane and St. Lawrence rivers, Matane is the outfitting point for salmon fishing in the Matane Wildlife Reserve (Réserve faunique de Matane). Matane fishermen also harvest halibut, cod and shrimp from the St. Lawrence River. Visitors can observe salmon fishing downtown along the Matane River; in season migrating salmon leap across the Mathieu-D'Amours Dam.
