Spawned by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1874, Nappanee is in an agricultural region known for its mint and onion crops. Many of the area's farmers are Amish. Each August more than 300 juried artists and craftspeople participate in the Amish Acres Arts and Crafts Festival .
