Box Canyon Dam

Box Canyon Dam is 4 mi. n. on SR 31. It was built in 1955 and backs up the Pend Oreille River for 56 miles to Albeni Falls Dam, east of Oldtown, Idaho. The overlook just south of the dam surveys the gorge. The visitor center has displays about the dam's construction, and there are picnic grounds, camping sites and a fishing pond for kids at an adjacent park.
