The phenomenal tidal fluctuations at Windsor average about 12 metres (40 ft.) each day. For the best times and viewing locations, contact the Windsor-West Hants Visitor Information Centre, off Hwy. 1 exit 6; phone (902) 798-2690.

Of historic interest is King's-Edgehill School, one of the oldest educational institutions in the British Commonwealth. Home to a respected touring company of puppeteers, the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, 132 Gerrish St., allows visitors to view puppets and stages from previous shows or watch new ones being created; phone (902) 798-5841. Windsor also claims the title of “Birthplace of Hockey” thanks to 19th-century author Thomas Chandler Haliburton, who described an early form of the game being played at Long Pond.
