International Peace Garden

Points of interest include the Peace Chapel, which includes quotations etched in limestone walls; more than 150,000 flowering annuals in the formal gardens that line the boundary; a floral clock; the Carillon Bell Tower, which chimes every 15 minutes; and the 9/11 Memorial, constructed of steel salvaged from the ruins of the World Trade Center, commemorating the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

The Interpretive Centre and Conservatory houses a retail store, a café, small prairie lands library and a conservatory with more than 6,000 cacti, succulents and orchids. The North American Game Warden Museum is dedicated to officers who died in the line of duty.

Facilities include campgrounds, hiking and bicycling trails and picnic areas. Self-guiding walking and driving tours are available. Flowers are in full bloom mid-July to early September (weather permitting).

The International Music Camp Summer School of Fine Arts is held at the garden June through July. The Legion Athletic Camp, held July through August, attracts coaches and athletes from many countries.

After leaving the garden all visitors are required to go through customs (U.S. and Canadian customs stations are a short distance from the entrance gate). Allow 2 hours minimum to visit the site. The garden is open daily 24 hours, and the entrance gate is staffed Mon.-Fri. 9-5, Sat.-Sun. 9-7, late May to mid-Sept. Interpretive Centre daily 10-7. Game Warden Museum Tues.-Sun. 10-4, June 7-early Sept.; daily 11-4, early Sept. to mid-Sept.; Sat.-Sun. 11-4, in May; by appointment rest of year.
