Fort Collins

Colorado State University, a land-grant institution established in 1879 as an agricultural college, is known for its forestry, veterinary medicine, biotechnology, computer technology and electronic research programs.

The Fort Collins Municipal Railway runs between the city park and downtown on weekends and holidays during summer. Scenic drive SR 14 leaves US 287 3 miles northwest of Fort Collins. The road follows the Cache la Poudre River through narrow Poudre Canyon—in one place tunneling through solid rock—and traverses the Pawnee National Grassland.

Historic Old Town Square at College and Mountain Avenue is now a retail center. Lincoln Center, a venue for performing and visual arts, hosts plays, musicals, top entertainers and trade shows. Horsetooth Reservoir and Lory State Park offer a variety of recreational activities.
