DESTINATION

Wethersfield

Wethersfield became the commercial center for towns along the Connecticut River; ships built, owned and manned by locals sailed along the coast and to the West Indies with goods produced by the rich valley soil. Many structures built prior to 1800 are marked with the date of construction and the names of the original owners. The original Colonial steeple and brickwork of the Meeting House, now the First Church of Christ, remain.

The Cove Warehouse, at the north end of Main Street, was built in the 1600s and remained standing after a flood in 1692 that changed the course of the river; phone (860) 529-7656.
