Elgin
The Elgin Theatre Company has been entertaining audiences since 1952. Performances are held at the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division St., 8th floor; (847) 741-0532. The 1,200-seat Hemmens Cultural Center, 45 Symphony Way, is home to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, which presents more than 25 concerts each year; (847) 888-4000. The Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Elgin Master Chorale perform at Blizzard Theatre on the campus of Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Dr.; (847) 622-0300.
Along the eastern shore of the Fox River is the more-than-40-mile scenic Fox River Trail, a popular place for walkers, hikers and bikers. The paved trail connects Elgin with Aurora in the south and provides access to the Illinois Prairie Path.
