In addition to retail outlet merchandising, chief contributors to the economy are tourism and lobstering. The 40-foot Big Indian statue, 1 mile north of I-295 exit 17, is a frequently photographed local landmark.

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park, 426 Wolfe's Neck Rd., offers several self-guiding nature trails that include views of Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River. The park, which is open year-round, also presents educational and interpretive programs.

Freeport Historical Society's Harrington House, 45 Main St., features changing exhibits relating to the history of Freeport dating from the late 18th century to the present.
