Watertown
A former army arsenal now shelters the Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St., (617) 923-0100; the main venue is the 380-seat Charles Mosesian Theater. Home to such companies as the New Repertory Theatre and the Watertown Children's Theatre, the cultural center also encompasses artists' studios and gallery space.
Founded in 1829 in Boston, Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N. Beacon St., is the oldest school for the blind in the country. Helen Keller's tutor and companion, Anne Sullivan, attended the school in the late 1800s, prior to Perkins' move to Watertown in 1912. Guided tours of the campus, which includes the Perkins Braille and Talking Book Library and the Samuel P. Hayes Research Library, are available by appointment; phone (617) 972-7233.
