Springfield
Two state historic sites are nearby. The restored Eureka Schoolhouse is east of Springfield on SR 11. Begun in 1785 and completed 5 years later, this one-room schoolhouse is said to be the state's oldest and is one of Vermont's few remaining 18th-century public buildings. Today it houses an information center. Next to it stands the 37-foot-long Baltimore Covered Bridge, built in 1870. The bridge originally spanned Great Brook in North Springfield; it was moved to its present location in 1970.

Springfield declared itself “Home of the Simpsons” after being chosen as the fictional hometown of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie from the animated television series “The Simpsons.”
