Kemmerer

A nationwide retail chain originated in Kemmerer when James Cash Penney opened his first store, the Golden Rule, in 1902 with an initial investment of $500. The original home of the founder is now a museum at 107 JC Penney Dr.

Native fossils and historical artifacts are displayed at the visitor center in Herschler Triangle Park.
