Bank of America Stadium

800 S Mint St., Charlotte, North Carolina

Located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, the Bank of America Stadium is home to the Carolina Panthers football team. Opened in 1996, the open-air, natural grass stadium was designed specifically for football. In addition to football games, the stadium also hosts concerts and other big events year-round.

The stadium offers more than 75,000 seats over four levels, including club level and luxury suites. The interior features wide and tall concourses and numerous features designed to enhance the fan experience, such as state-of-the-art sound, video, and scoreboard systems. In addition to the playing field, the stadium is also home to the Carolina Panthers’ headquarters, training facilities, practice fields, and administrative offices. It also hosts Major League Soccer games.

The best way to experience the stadium is at a game or a concert. Tours of the stadium are also offered several times a week, on a walk-up basis. Several Charlotte sightseeing tours also pass by the stadium.

  • Outside food and drinks are not permitted, aside from two sealed water bottles per person.

Baseball fans can catch the Charlotte Knights at the BB&T Ballpark; basketball fans can watch Charlotte Hornets games at the Spectrum; while hockey fans can cheer on the Charlotte Checkers at the Bojangles Coliseum. NASCAR fans have the Charlotte Motor Speedway nearby, in addition to the NASCAR Hall of Fame right in town.

The Bank of America Stadium is known for its optimal viewing design, so finding a seat with a good view isn’t too tricky. The seats closest to the field are in the 100-level section, so if you want a good elevated view from the sideline, go for rows 10 and above.

The seating capacity at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte is over 78,000, making it one of the largest NFL stadiums. The honor of the largest NFL stadium (including standing seats) goes to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, which holds around 82,500 people.

The Bank of America Stadium is the home ground of the Carolina Panthers, who play in the National Football League (NFL), and also Charlotte FC, who play in Major League Soccer. Besides these two teams, the stadium also hosts up to three college football games throughout the year.

The Bank of America has had naming rights over the stadium since 2004, leading to monikers like “the BOA” and “the Bank.” If the official name changes after its naming rights contract ends, the nicknames could linger; many fans have only ever known it as the Bank of America Stadium.
