Breckenridge Ski Resort

1599 Ski Hill Road, Breckenridge, Colorado

No matter the season, there’s always something to do at Breckenridge, one of Colorado’s most popular ski resorts. Five massive peaks and an average annual snowfall of 350 inches (9 meters provide epic terrain for skiers and snowboarders. As the snow melts, visitors keep coming back for summertime fun at this majestic Rocky Mountain playground.

“Breck” boasts nearly 3,000 acres (1,200 hectares) of slopes with more than 180 trails ranging from beginner greens to steep alpine chutes and terrain parks, so there are options for all levels of skiers and riders. Not a skier or snowboarder? You can spend your day snowmobiling, ice skating, or shopping at the well-stocked mountain village.

During summer months, the mountains buzz with excitement thanks to outdoor activities like ziplining, mountain biking, 4WD tours, and climbing walls. You can still take advantage of gravity on a 2,600-foot (800-meter) alpine slide or the Gold Runner Coaster that twists and turns through the forest.

  • Don’t miss a ride on the Imperial Express—North America’s highest chairlift.
  • Base elevation at Breckenridge is 9,600 feet (2,930 meters), which can cause altitude sickness for some. Stay hydrated and limit strenuous activities until you feel adjusted.
  • Need help while on the mountain? Look for guest services employees wearing a signature red snowsuit.
  • Ski and snowboard lessons are available for adults and kids starting as young as age 3.
  • Enjoy a meal with a view at one of Breckenridge’s on-mountain dining options such as Ten Mile Station or the Overlook, which serves up lunch at over 11,000 feet (3,350 meters).

Breckenridge is located about 80 miles (130 kilometers) and two hours west of the Denver International Airport, or about 2.5 hours from the Colorado Springs Airport. If you drive yourself, plan to pay for resort parking during your stay, or use free lots in town and take a shuttle to the base. The resort runs daily shuttles from Denver International Airport, or you can prebook private transport in a luxury SUV or van for a comfortable, stylish arrival.

“Breck” is open year round, with activities varying widely by season. Ski lifts generally run from early November through April or early May. Peak hiking and mountain biking season is June through August, when temperatures are warmest. Bundle up in the fall to catch some of Colorado's colorful foliage.

If skiing is a wintertime passion and you plan to hit the slopes at least eight days in a season, the Epic Pass offers major savings at more than a dozen popular resorts, including Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Keystone in Colorado. You can also ski or ride at other western favorites including Whistler Blackcomb, Park City, and Northstar at Lake Tahoe.
