The Museum of Russian Art

5500 Stevens Ave., Minneapolis, Minnesota

Gain a better appreciation of Russian culture at the Museum of Russian Art, the only museum in North America devoted to preserving and presenting all forms of Russian art and artifacts. Housed in a beautifully restored historic building, the museum features a dynamic rotation of temporary exhibitions and special programs.

Explore Russian art in three galleries over multiple levels. Admire artifacts, paintings, sculptures, textiles, and Russian nesting dolls, dating from the Byzantine-era to present day. In addition to visual art exhibitions, the museum offers live events, such as concerts, dances, theater, artist talks, and lectures about Russian artists, culture, and history. Be sure to also take in the architectural details of the beautifully restored Spanish Colonial-era former church, including its Romanesque windows and high arches.

  • The museum is a must-visit for those interested in Russian art or history.

  • Children aged 13 and under can enter for free.

  • Admission tickets can be booked online in advance.

  • The museum is wheelchair accessible, and wheelchairs can be borrowed for free.

The museum is located between downtown Minneapolis and the Minneapolis–Saint Paul Airport, on the corner of I-35W and Diamond Lake Road. Free parking is available across the street at the Mayflower Church parking lot.

The museum is open daily, with slightly extended hours during the week. It’s closed for most major public holidays. Free docent-led museum tours are held Thursday through Sunday. Live events are held frequently. Check the museum’s schedule ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

There’s a vibrant visual arts scene and plenty of options for art lovers in Minneapolis.
