USS Wisconsin

Experience military and maritime history aboard the USS Wisconsin, one of the biggest battleships ever built. Having been through three wars, “Wisky” now serves as a floating museum docked next to the Nauticus Maritime Center in Norfolk.

Explore the main and two upper decks of the USSWisconsin. You’ll see the ship’s massive gun turrets—along with the radio room, sailors’ bunks, surgery room, brig, and more. Then, head to the Nauticus Maritime Center to learn more about the warship that survived World War II, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War.

  • Admission to the Nauticus includes a self-guided tour of theWisconsin—guided tours of additional areas are available for an extra fee. You can also spend the night on the ship.

  • Wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes with no heels, and be prepared to climb down steep stairways if you want to tour belowdecks.

  • The Nauticus building and the main deck of theWisconsin are accessible to wheelchairs.

The USS Wisconsin is located along the Elizabeth River waterfront in downtown Norfolk. Take I-64 to 264 West, and exit at Waterside Drive. Paid parking garages are available on Main Street and Plume Street.

Nauticus and the USSWisconsin are typically open daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and closed on Mondays the rest of the year. TheWisconsin sometimes closes during inclement weather. Holiday closures include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Check the website for the schedule of guided tours and other events.

A maritime-themed science center, the Nauticus has more than 55,000 square feet (5,110 square meters) of interactive exhibits, theaters, and aquariums. It’s also home to the US Navy–operated Hampton Roads Naval Museum, where you can browse a large collection of weaponry, underwater artifacts, uniforms, and detailed models and artwork.
