Glo Best Western Savannah - Gateway I-95

Seems recently updated and remodeled; nothing horrible, but the emphasis on trendy design led to some silly impracticalities. The bedside reading lights were hung too low, on cords at the level of the pillows, with one over the edge of the bed, and the switches were unreachable while in bed. The bathroom vanity was even worse. I'm 5 ft 1. The counter top was chest high, with the sides of the vessel sink sitting on top adding another 6 inches. I could barely reach to lean over it to brush my teeth. Children would find it impossible to use the sink. Finally, an unfortunate housekeeping error left the tile bedroom floor quite dirty. Bottom line, I wouldn't say don't stay here, but it doesn't meet the standards of the older style Best Westerns that I'm accustomed to.

For a one night stay, the room was fine. It was clean with minimalist decor. The a/c did not seem to be working full strength as there was some humidity in the air, a bit of a wet dog smell, and the bedding felt damp. A tropical storm had just been through the area, so I'm hoping that is the reason. I liked that there was just a shower and no tub. The towels were probably the thinnest towels I have ever used at a hotel. But they did the job. There was door slamming in our hallway throughout the night until about 2am. While I could blame our neighbors, really the doors should be engineered to close more quietly. Finally, the free breakfast was hardly worth a look. If I had another one night stay in the area, I would book this hotel again because of the proximity to 95 and the cleanliness.

The hotel itself is nice, it reminds me of the ALoft hotels. However, my room was just decent but the cleaning crew could use some more training or just simply pay more attention to detail. The shower was not cleaned properly. There was dust, yes, dust and debris around the edge of the shower, the shower door did not prevent water from coming out. The water leaked out of the shower at a fast rate, so much so, that I had to use all of the extra towels and hand towels to soak it up. And for whatever reason, the complimentary lotion was partially used (yuck)! Lastly, an extra set of flat sheets was left on the ironing board, so I'm not sure if my sheets were actually changed as requested. Overall, I'd say that because the hotel itself was nice as well as the staff, I'd stay again IF they fixed the above-mentined issues.
