Holiday Inn Express & Suites

We checked in at around midnight, the night shift person was less than helpful/friendly. My wife went up to the room while I unloaded the car, while I was still down in the lobby she called and said her key didn't work and to make sure mine was programmed correctly. I told him and he re-ran my key, I went up with cart full of our stuff (third floor) and my key didn't work either... Went back down, leaving my wife standing in the middle of the hall to let him know my key didn't work either. When I told him he acted like I was doing something wrong when I swiped the key, I assured him that I had stayed in many hotels and knew how the key card worked. He then took my key and said I'll come with you, we got upstairs and he couldn't open the door either, even with his master key card. He then told us the batteries must be dead and he would have to put us in another room. He left and once again we're out in the hall in the middle of the night with or luggage. After about ten minutes he came back and put us in a room down the hall. The next day when we checked out the bill was higher than I had been told when we booked through AAA, so I went to the manager and asked why. He was very nice and looked into it and found that when the night person had moved us he didn't include the discount as he should have and charged us the full price. The manager did fix it without issues. I should also mention that when I was down getting some breakfast that morning I went to get hot water for my oatmeal and the dispenser was empty, a women next to me said that the coffee was also empty and proceeded to tell me that she had been staying at this hotel for years and wasn't going to stay there again after this trip.

over all great hotel front desk person not to knowledgeable

hotel was under renovations not told when made reservation no pool no exercise room but still paid alot for the room
