The Tok Cut Off (SR 1) meanders across both the Alaskan and Wrangell Mountain Ranges through scenery typical of Alaska's plains. The route begins in the Copper River Valley. Surrounded by hills covered with pine trees, this section offers views of the river. Slip past deep green valleys capped with distant icy peaks on this path through Alaskan wilderness.

From mountains crowned with a halo of snow to glacier-carved valleys, the Tok Cut Off (SR 1) is packed with scenic delights. Rivers flow gently over rocks, bordered by a thick line of pines. Look for moose sipping water just after sunrise. Lynx and grizzly bears also roam the countryside. If you have time, scan the open mountains with binoculars to spot wildlife.
