Longfellow wrote of the "deep-voiced neighboring ocean" and the trees "bearded with moss" in his poem "Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie." On the Evangeline Trail (PR 1/PR101), experience this beauty in person. This route is a good cross-section of Nova Scotia culture, offering dramatic coastal beauty, historic communities and pastoral scenes of quiet farmlands.

From Yarmouth, drive along the coastline through small fishing villages with small boats anchored in the harbor, weather-beaten homes and ever-present lobster traps. Farther east, pass picturesque farms in the lush green Annapolis Valley. Views of the Bay of Fundy, home of the world's highest tides, also can be seen along the way.
