The Rideau Scenic Heritage Route (PR 15) follows the Rideau Canal through southern Ontario, providing access to numerous lakes and streams along the way. The scenery is decidedly rural for most of the journey, with pockets of development in the villages of Seeley’s Bay and Portland and in the small town of Smiths Falls.

Much of PR 15 travels through quiet countryside with views of grain silos and crop fields, but occasionally you’ll get a glimpse of a glistening lake through the trees. Take a short detour to the lockstations near Washburn or Jones Falls for a closer look at the Rideau Canal, the oldest continuously operated canal in North America.
