The Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area is composed of two sections within the Monongahela National Forest. The larger Seneca Rocks unit is especially noted for rugged terrain and white-water boating during high flows in spring and rock-climbing opportunities. Camping, fishing and hiking are popular during spring and summer. Hunting is permitted in season. Cross-country skiers prefer the higher elevations in the Spruce Knob unit, where trails are plentiful.
