About EdisonSettled in the late 1600s and first known as Raritan Township, the community honored the “Wizard of Menlo Park,” aka Thomas Alva Edison, with a name change in 1954. Twelve period street lamps, which evoke the first incandescent lamps that illuminated Christie Street, and the Edison Memorial Tower stand testament to the famous inventor's contribution to the area, where he conducted numerous experiments.
