Road TripsAbout WinchesterWinchester lies east of Tims Ford Dam and Reservoir, an immense Tennessee Valley Authority project that provided rural electrification in 1970. Since then the project has provided a focus for recreation in Franklin County, of which Winchester is the county seat. Tims Ford State Park covers 10,700 acres and offers varied recreational opportunities. Davy Crockett's farm, Kentuck, once occupied a site south of Winchester near Belvidere.
Late April brings the High on the Hog Festival to town, which features a barbeque contest, carnival and motorcycle poker run.
