Tips For Visiting Yellowstone

Most park roads and facilities are open to visitors from mid-May through early October, as long as the weather permits. From early October until late April, food and lodging options are limited within the park and most roads are closed to wheeled vehicles.

The only road open year-round for vehicles is the 60-mile stretch between the North Entrance at Gardiner, Montana, and the Northeast Entrance at Cooke City, Montana.

ADMISSION

As of 2024, the Yellowstone National Park entrance fees are $35 per private vehicle, $30 per motorcycle or $20 per person arriving on foot or bicycle. The entry fee is good for 7 days from the date of purchase.

PETS

You can bring your pet to developed areas in Yellowstone National Park, but they must remain within 100 feet of roads, parking areas and campgrounds and be physically controlled in a car, in a crate or on a leash at all times. Remember that pets are not allowed on trails, boardwalks, thermal areas or in the backcountry, and it is illegal to leave them unattended.

ADDRESS

Yellowstone National Park Headquarters is located in Mammoth Hot Springs, 5 miles from the north entrance (2 Officers Row, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190); phone (307) 344-7381.

For lodging and camping information, phone (307) 344-7311. For road and weather information, phone (307) 344-2117. For geyser predictions, phone (307) 344-2751, option 2.
