Maple Ridge

The Fraser River Heritage Walk, which starts at Port Haney Wharf, passes many of the town's notable spots. The Haney House at 11612 224th St. was built in 1876 and contains many furnishings and artifacts owned by three generations of the Haney family; phone (604) 463-1377. Displays at Maple Ridge Museum, 22520 116th Ave., reflect the history and geography of the area; phone (604) 463-5311.

Kanaka Creek Regional Park offers hiking and horseback riding trails as well as canoeing, kayaking, fishing and picnic facilities. A fish hatchery is on the grounds. Phone (604) 530-4983. Maple Ridge also has a large per capita horse population and an extensive riding trail system.
