East Haddam
The bell arrived in New York on a 19th-century trading vessel as part of a shipload of metal. In 1834 William Pratt, a local resident and ships chandler, claimed the bell and shipped it to East Haddam. Also at St. Stephen's is the small schoolhouse where Nathan Hale taught 1773-74.
