Sioux City

Dakota Point Lookout in Stone State Park provides scenic views of the tri-state Siouxland farm region, which also includes South Sioux City, Neb., and North Sioux City, S.D. Similarly impressive vistas also can be enjoyed near W. Fourth and Burton streets, site of the grave of Native American Chief War Eagle, whose peaceful relations with settlers helped further the area’s development.

A fountain, trellis and plenty of beautiful and fragrant roses make the garden in Grandview Park ideal for an easy walk or a moment to unwind.

Water is the focal point of River-Cade, a major event featuring a parade and a variety of family activities in July. The ArtSplash festival is held Labor Day weekend. Costumed re-enactors, entertainment and vendors recreate Old England at Riverssance in October.

Historic 4th Street offers shops and eateries housed in restored turn-of-the-20th-century buildings. Just north of US 20/75 Lakeport Road exit, Southern Hills Mall features JCPenney and Scheels. Lakeport Commons nearby includes more than 20 apparel and specialty stores and eateries.
