Blue Springs
More than a dozen city parks feature sports courts and fields, jogging trails, picnic facilities and playgrounds. You can sled down the town’s largest hill after the snow begins to fall at Keystone Park, 2214 S.W. Keystone Dr. Let canine family members run loose at Dog Park, 1049 N.E. 20th St., a 2.7-acre off-leash area for dogs of all sizes at Gregory O. Grounds Park. Skateboarders will find thrills at the skate park at 14-acre Burrus Old Mill Park, 112 N.W. Woods Chapel Rd., which is also the original site of Blue Springs.
There may not be water, water everywhere in Blue Springs, but there’s more than enough to go around at Lake Jacomo and Blue Springs Lake, both in Fleming Park, 22807 Woods Chapel Rd. Boaters and windsurfers on 970-acre Lake Jacomo enjoy smooth sailing, in part because horsepower is limited to no more than 40 hp for pontoon boats and sailboats, and no more than 25 hp for other types of boats. There are no horsepower limits at 720-acre Blue Springs Lake, where visitors engage in water skiing, tubing and jet skiing. There’s also good fishing to be had at both lakes.
