DESTINATION

Ocean City

At the north end of an island between the Atlantic and Great Egg Harbor, Ocean City offers easy access to both the ocean and to inland waterways, making it a favored summer port for yacht owners. Chief among the many recreational facilities is the town boardwalk, lined with shops and amusements. Marinas accommodate visiting craft as well as charter boats for sightseeing and fishing, and the downtown area has numerous boutiques and restaurants to browse.

The Music Pier is Ocean City's primary entertainment center; band concerts take place regularly in summer. Gillian's Wonderland Pier and Playland's Castaway Cove have family-oriented amusement parks that operate from early April to mid-October. The Ocean City Arts Center, 1735 Simpson Ave., presents monthly art exhibits; phone (609) 399-7628.
