Washburn
Washburn is on the eastern edge of an extensive development that uses coal to supply electrical power to the Central Plains. Coal-fired generating plants are across the river in Oliver and Mercer counties.
Preserved at the east end of Main Street is the log cabin of Joseph Henry Taylor, trader, trapper, editor and author. McLean County Historical Society Museums , 610 Main Ave., includes the main building and an old schoolhouse; phone (701) 462-3660.
