Anadarko

Local Native American tribes include the Apache, Caddo, Delaware, Fort Sill Apache, Kiowa and Wichita. A Bureau of Indian Affairs office is in Anadarko, servicing western Oklahoma and Horton, Kan. Representative of regional Native American heritage are the striking murals by Kiowa artists in the Federal Building at 120 S. First St.

Colorful sandstone canyons and lakes skirt US 281, which travels 16 miles north of Anadarko to Binger. From Binger a scenic portion of SR 37/152 runs 20 miles east to Minco, where US 81 begins a scenic course through the Canadian River Valley to El Reno at I-40. The Wichita Mountains are southwest of the city.
