A descriptive marker 7.7 miles west on US 101 defines the site of Bruceville, settled in 1851 by the crew of the oyster schooner Robert Bruce, which burned near the site. Bruceville, later called Bruceport, was one of the pioneering oyster communities on Willapa Bay.
