Shasta-Trinity National Forests

Three impounded lakes—Whiskeytown, Shasta and Clair Engle—are within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. Almost 1,200 miles of hiking trails wind through this vast wilderness area, including 154 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. There are numerous opportunities for lake and stream fishing as well as hunting for waterfowl, upland birds, deer, bear and small game.
