Hoosier National Forest

There are several remote areas for backpacking and nature study. Pioneer Mothers' Memorial Forest, a tract of virgin timber 1 mile south of Paoli, is used in ecological studies and is renowned for its large trees. Nearby towns listed separately are Bedford, Bloomington and Evansville. For more information contact the Forest Supervisor, 811 Constitution Ave., Bedford, IN 47421.
