Most visitors combine a visit to the Horsetail Waterfall with an exploration of nearby Santiago’s historic center. The Horsetail Waterfall is located just an hour’s drive outside of Monterrey and 20 minutes from the center of Santiago. Although the waterfall isn’t very remote, it’s also not that well-connected via public transit. Consequently, most visitors find it easiest to arrive by private vehicle or as part of an excursion that includes round-trip transportation.

The Horsetail Waterfall is open daily from the mid-morning to the early evening, although it’s best visited in the morning when you’ve got the greatest chance of having the place to yourself. The falls are popular among local families at the weekend too, so visit midweek if you want a more tranquil experience.
