Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Midtown Manhattan

Everything was perfect, the plentiful breakfast, cocktail coupons, front desk and bell crew very helpful and hotel location great; however, the room space for three people was very crowded and not very condusive to good sleep.

Loved the location and staff, we had some issues with the door lock battery dying, but otherwise a lovely visit. The biggest complaint would be that the hallways and elevator were really hot and we had to wait for a while, so started sweating our clothes up before we hit the streets. Another issue, that we liked at first, was that the hotel "gives you back" the $30 a night resort fee in credits at the bar or restaurant. The drinks were so expensive that we'd have been better off just paying the fee instead of trying to use it on drinks at over $20 a piece.

The location is great. We came across a couple of things we thought could be better managed. The elevator situation at the rush time was a problem. On the first day, one of the three elevators was not working, and a second was being held up by room service by putting a cart in the door to hold the elevator (we discovered that when we got to our floor). On the second day, all elevators worked, which was a great response time, but the room cleaning people used one. Mind you, there are two service elevators, and we never saw any staff using them. The delays were a minor inconvenience, but they could have been avoided if the staff could use the service elevators, assuming they were for them. The other thing was the AC was not ideal, so poking around, we found the HVAC filter behind a panel on the wall. It had so many layers of dust the filter was unrecognizable. We told the front desk, but maintenance never replaced it. We reminded them again when we checked out. The staff was accommodating. One example is when we returned to retrieve our luggage after being out for the afternoon; we realized we had left an item in the room, and they quickly tracked it down and brought it to us. We were very grateful. I recommend the hotel and would stay again; I just wanted to be honest about our experience, and it did not impede us from enjoying our stay there, and hopefully, management can review some things to elevate the experience.

I left Maryland without my driver's license, and when I went to check in, the young lady asked me for my confirmation. I could not find anything in my email or text. Although I had received a text regarding my stay earlier that day. I was so terrified because I did not think I would be able to stay. The young lady worked with me and she was able to verify that I was the person who made the reservations. I am so appreciative of the extra mile she took to verify my identity. Last Friday was my birthday and it would have been tragic had she not done that. In addition, after I told her that it was my birthday, she gave me a goodie bag. I almost teared up. I'm so grateful for that young lady, and I wished I remembered her name. For those reasons, I really enjoyed my one night stay!
