Room small in relation to room price. Had chemical smell, very strong. Air was dry in room. Bed was hard. Had terrible backache from it. Best thing about this Hotel was location.
This is our third visit to the Kimpton. It is a great choice if you want to be close to the pier, shops, and restaurants. We like the relaxed atmosphere, the fun decor, and the friendly staff. It is also very clean and the rooms are well appointed. We had a bit of a hiccup upon checking-in and with slow service at the restaurant. Other than that, all went well.
It's really a 4.5. We've stayed here before and really like the Klimpton. The furnishings and decor are casual and fun and play in to the Surf City vibe. The location right across from the pier and around the corner from lots of shops and restaurants is ideal. Speaking of restaurants, the Pacific Hideaway on site is very good. The hotel is spotless and staff is professional and friendly. Parking is extra and in a structure. Expensive, but typical of city hotels.
they charged a lot more than advertised for the room, they told me over the phone that our room had a couch. It had nothing! For $450!
