Northwestern Arkansas Scenic Byway

157.0 miles: 3 hours, 26 minutes

The tree-cloaked mountain peaks, impressive limestone cliffs and exuberant waterfalls of the Ozark highlands all contribute to the spectacular natural beauty traversed by this northwestern Arkansas scenic byway. The rugged, densely wooded terrain is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, offering numerous opportunities for camping, canoeing, hiking, fishing and hunting.

One scenic vista follows another as SR 7 winds through the Arkansas Ozarks, a rugged region characterized by flat-topped mountains and valleys created by rushing streams. The Buffalo National River—so designated to preserve the natural environment—is overarched in spots by massive sandstone bluffs. The clear water offers great fishing for bass, perch and catfish.
